Send Us Good Thoughts
Two bits of reason we need all your positive karmic thinking.

Thing 1) Mera and I are STILL SICK. This is unbelievable. I can't remember being sick like this. Ever. The latest turn in the flu maze is that we no longer can see our heart beat in our eyes. The headache is easing. The body aches are almost gone. This would be great except sometime during the our snot turned green and filled with blood. BLOOD. Unf*ing believable. Infected and bleeding sinuses? This is the flu? Also, an intense burning pain started somewhere between the left ear and the roof of the mouth. Mera says it's in the roof of her mouth but in my case it really feels closer to the ear. I suspect it's originating somewhere in the sinus cavity. The pain radiates in both cases down the back of the throat. Absolutely nothing relieves this pain.

To make matters worse, DrC clearly contracted the virus. He says, "I don't have it as bad as you do." What he forgets is that this wasn't as bad when it started. It just gets progressively worse each day. We can't afford for him to be sick so keep your fingers crossed.

Thing 2) Our real estate dude may have found us a tenant. I'm almost reluctant to hope. But omigod that would be frickin awesome. So please send warm fuzzy Lease LTTM thoughts to a furniture guy in Burien who is looking for more space. He wants THE WHOLE BUILDING all 7200 sq ft and he wants it for the long haul (e.g. 3 years). It could not be better which is what makes me nervous. We need this. We really really need this. While we made the decision to go no matter what, it's the difference between going with no safety net and going with some money left over even if we stay out till Jaime goes to college.

So we need your good vibes. Laureen is teaching me the positive woohoo factor of good karmic thinking. Multiple it people. We need to be healthy and we need Mr. Furniture Guy.

Opaque green snot with blood? What I say after this is not the opinion of a medical professional, it's the opinion of someone who lives in fear of ever having another serious sinus infection.

This is a serious sinus infection. I've been through this. Left unchecked, it'll turn into a pickaxe in your brain. Remember, sinuses are in your SKULL. They have no place to expand. But they're infected. They want to swell. In your brain. Brain rhymes with pain.

Swelling tissue in finite space = pain + blood.

The pain going down your throat is the sinus fluids draining down, making your throat raw.

Now, I could be wrong. It could be something entirely different. But you have opaque mucus mixed with blood coming out of your nose. Doesn't matter what's causing it - the course of action is the same.

Get your asses to a doctor. Now.

Amen, Niherlas. My thought exactly. I've had problems with staph infections in the sinuses for years. Bloody snot was a new experience. Fortunately, Mera is showing no signs of this. I think that what we're seeing in my head is a secondary infection. DrC ordered the drugs and I'm picking them up this afternoon. Better living through chemistry.

I had a pretty bad one back in January - never quite got to the blood point. My last resort before going to a doctor was to pick up some Mucinex D (600mg guaifenesin 60mg pseudoephedrine). Reduced the symptoms enough that my body was able to fix the damage (wasn't spending body-energy on dealing with self-destructive symptoms).

But beware - that little drug cocktail will ramp up your heartrate and wire you something fierce. I was on it for 3 days... and took me a day and a half to get it out of my system.

Isn't that phen-fen? I think they took it off the market for years because people were getting faux prescriptions and using at a diet drug. I used to take it under the brand name Entax LA back in the day to help do precisely what you describe. Worked REALLY well. That and a blast of Afrin for 3 days would enable me to tackle the infection without resorting to the 'cillins.

Could be. Mucinex-D you have to ask for at the pharmacist counter, then show ID and sign a little paper - primary due to the pseudoephedrine content which can be used to make meth.

It's B. So, I'm with niherlas but can't possibly say it as well, so I'll leave it at- Get yerself checked out PRONTO and on whatever mega drugs you need.

And meanwhile, you've got all the woowoo in me hoping for your health and Mr Furniture Man to be your signed confirmed tenant!

Do I read into your last para that there's an offer on Laureen's house? that would be fantastic!
